I would think the most effective way to avoid residue is to triple rinse.
When the washing machine stops, start it up again with the dial set on rinse.
Do this two times. I use laundry detergent without the perfumes and dyes,
such as All "Free and Clear" and Arm & Hammer for sensitive skin. Woolite
does not have brighteners, but it does have a lot of perfume.
