Re: ear crud
One of my geldings has the ear crud also, I have been fighting it for
years. It has sort of a cauliflower like appearance. I thaught it was worts.
My vet took a little sample and analyzed it. He came to the conclusion
that it's not worts or any malignant growth, but rather a hypersensitive
reaction to insects (small knats etc.). He recommended softening the stuff
with a lanolin type ointment and picking off the loose stuff best you can
(if your horse will let you) and also to use insect repellant on the ears.
I found that the roll on works good with the ears.
My vet also stated that he has seen more chestnut colored horses with this
condition than any other color, allthough he had no explanation for this.
Go figure!
