I ride a purebred, but know a lot of Arab crosses who have even better
recoveries (and my gelding's pretty good).  One or 2 are even QH crosses.
You can get good recoveries with other breeds, if you judge the horses as
individuals. A friend of mine rides an ex-track TB who recovers to 32 or 36
almost every time.  I've already decided that my next horse will probably be
a cross-bred for the simple fact that I'm a heavyweight and would like
bigger bone, but most of the Arabs with heavier bone are also taller than I
want (I'm short too).  Good luck!
