If you give a scalpel to a monkey, it may be dangerous. If you give it to a
surgeon, it may be of great value.

You are right about using one's brain. However, using one's brain does not
require throwing away one's tools, merely using them properly.

FWIW, I rarely carry a whip. But when I have, it has been a tool, not a
weapon. Using it as a weapon precludes being able to use it as a tool later.
