This has been my remedy to galling! I ride with a variety of girths,
keep them reasonably clean, and rarely have a gall because, I think,
they are kept loose. It may just be me and my horses, but if the saddle
fits and the rider is balanced, the saddle on most horses doesn't move
much.
I have gotten galls, and it's usually towards the end of long rides when
I tighten the cinch without thinking, and then don't pull the leg
forward to stretch the skin under the now tight girth. Or when I have
other folks on my horses.
My skin crawls when I see these "Gut Buster" girth tighteners!
