I'm too lazy and cheap to go to clinics and such. I have an Australian
Shepherd dog that goes in the field with me.
When I try to walk up to Kaboot with a carrot (which he requires if it's
obvious I plan to ride) our Welsh Ponies will literally trample me. If I
yell or swing at them Kaboot thinks I mean to kill him. The dog is
perfect. One threatening "get back!" from me and the dog knows her job.
She stays between the pony and me and nips if he comes closer while I
catch Kaboot. By the way, she's never been allowed to bother Kaboot and
won't touch him. She knows the ponies are always the ones in trouble.
:-) Won't win me any awards for style, but it works.
