I've been around almost "forever" and have been on the board for about 18 or
19 years. It seems to me the heavyweight riders came out strongly for weight
divisions because they felt they were competing at a great disadvantage to
the lighter riders. In short, a mandate from the membership. What would it
take to change the rule? Probably a ground swell of rider opinion and a
petition signed by a percentage of the membership. Not sure of the
percentage, but something like 5% comes to mind. I don't know whether the
percentage could be mustered. I doubt that many members are unhappy with
status quo.
