Mtnside 50
Last saturday's Mountainside Ride at Whiskeytown, Ca (near Redding) was
terrific. Kudos to the Lynch's for putting on a fine ride in tight
quarters. The weather was good (hot and humid for a dry desert person)
it was in the 80's and humid, although not at all unbearable. The
wildflowers and green everything were drinks for my soul. It was a good
turn out. Approx. 10 in the 25 mi ride & tie; about 20 or so in the
25Ld; and about 40+ in the 50. It was a challenging 4 loop mountain up
and down ride. Plenty of water (and some waterfalls!) The vets were
cheery and efficient and the dinner of tri-tip and chicken with all the
fixins was yummy too. The horse camp is a small bowl and all the
riders and crews did a good job of pretzeling us all in and only a few
people got stuck.(mud). I hope someone else will (Mike?) post the
results. As we were there to train for the Washoe 100 we just trundled
along pretty much to ourselves all day and don't know all the details.
I really must perfect that sponge dunkin' --I'll have to contact Angie
for more tips--I get it stuck everywhere. The Lynch's will put on a
50/100 at least in the fall--it should be just as nice.
