Hi Diane!  I was told that it could be carried between my horses by me-- on 
my clothing, shoes, unwashed hands, etc.  Consequently, I wore completely 
different clothing and scrubbed like a brain surgeon after caring for my 
sicky (wore plastic bags over my shoes).  Must have worked because nobody 
else got it (they had ALL been vaccinated for it -- even the victim).
