I've had small pebbles get caught under the Sneakers and the sole, but
sand should be O.K and not get caught. Many horses wore Sneakers at the
World Championship Race in Dubai and that is all sand.

You can fill in the hole with silicone or something like that, but I
wouldn't keep it in all the time.
