Well, Susan, what you said was very helpful and is, as you also said,
what I intuitively felt -  but it hasn't been what I was  putting into
practice.  I truly am amazed to realize how "stuck" I have been into the
trotting-as-perfect-endurance-gait mode.  Well, I guess since we don't
own any permanently lame horses (we have kept all our retired equine
endurance partners) no harm has been done.  But I bet we could have done
better, and now will do better in the future armed with this new
understanding.  Thanks, Lif
