If you are putting any pressure on his head at all, he may be rushing back
because he is resisting the pressure. It may be that he has had pressure on
his head in the past, and rushing has become a habit. Make sure he is untied
while the door is still closed, and then stand behind the trailer so that he
comes out beside you. Talk calmly, pat him on the rump (from off to the
side), and try to soothe him after he comes out. It often takes quite awhile
to break a horse of this habit.
