For a word document to transmit a virus, the file has to be opened by Word.
The virus is in a macro instruction in the document and must be executed by
Word. Downloading the document will not transmit the virus. The mere act of
downloading anything cannot transmit the virus. But it is possible to set up
a computer to both download and open in which case the act of opening will
transmit the virus.
