No.  It is an email with an attachment.  You can tell it's the right one
because the email will have a Happy Face symbol in the body of the message.
It doesn't hurt your pc, it simply scans your address book and sends emails
to the first 50 addresses in, in YOUR NAME.  Not very nice, but not fatal to
your pc.  At a company like Boeing, however, with 100,000+ employees, it
brought down their entire email system.  Lucent, Intel and other big firms
are being totally demolished via email today.

Steph, are you referring to just opening a MS Word document or downloading
it?
I've received two posts in the past week (one today) from Microsoft offering
numerous sources of info on how to operate their products.  I was wondering
if
this was part of the Melissa virus.  Info on the Internet indicates that one
has to DOWNLOAD a file before it does damage.
