I will definitely get flamed for this but here goes. I feel that if children
are brought to rides then why can't people bring their dogs. I took my two
dogs to one NATRAC ride last year and every child in camp came to my trailer
and wanted to play with or walk my dogs. I had them in their kennels but
every time I turned around children had them out playing with them. At one
time I had 8 kids at my campsite. They ranged from probably 3 to 10 years of
age. This took place the whole weekend. I finally had to be rude and felt
bad about it. Don't get me wrong, I like kids, but when you are at a ride you
have priorities to take care of, not to mention making sure your horse doesn't
step on a child or get spooked. I might add I never saw a parent. I made a
mistake by taking my dogs and I haven't taken them since, but my dogs were in
their kennels unless taken out by a child. I agree with the women that feel
the need of their dogs when they travel alone. I would never let my wife
travel alone without our dog. We are having our first ride next week and we
have asked that no dogs be brought because of our resort rules, but we know
that some people will bring them and we will deal with it. As long as control
is maintained there isn't a problem, but as we all know there are those that
refuse to follow rules and make it tough for everyone else. Okay guys, flame
away!!!!!
