I was going to mention the NATRC volunteer program. In region I, they have a P&R group that works most of the rides. Most of these folks are spouses or friends of riders, and they make volunteering so enjoyable that I did a lot of it... rode point and drag, marked trails - even was a ride secretary once! I've only ridden one ride, I enjoy it very much but had a horse that couldn't do it before because of shoeing, and another that doesn't trailer tie. I want to do more this year on Kadance. The region I P&R folks have baseball hats with P&R on them... I don't wear caps, but... the group associating is neat.
