Re: RC: LD
I didn't even get out of the airport before I met some fellow ridecampers I
had never met before. But maybe that is just because I tend to talk to
strangers if I think they are endurance people. Somehow you can just tell. I
met a whole ton of people I didn't know before and since I have been riding
endurance for 26 years I tend to already know a lot of people. The only
people I found who were not terribly outgoing were the people we shared a
table with at the banquet. I asked my friends who had saved us places if they
were friends of theirs and when I found out they weren't I introduced myself
and everyone else at the table. They were from a different region and I
introduced my friends I had come with, 3 of us from California and 4 from
Oregon. They were polite but definitely not interested in socializing. [And
yes, we were on our best behavior and not being our usual rowdy selves]. By
the way, an interesting side note is that I think they were limited distance
riders and of all my friends, I have the fewest miles with almost 8,000. I
don't say this to start an argument, just as an interesting thought that
occurred to me. I'm really sorry you had a bad experience...Maryben
