The exchange didn't bother me at all--because I didn't read it. I had no
opinion on the subject matter--didn't have a dog in that fight. If what you
seek is peace and tranquility, I'd suggest a nice sunny beach. In the arena of
ideas and opinions there are going to be arguments, and some of these
degenerate eventually into name calling. At a certain point, the moderator
jumps in and shuts it down. That's all just fine by me.

On the other hand, there seem to be quite a few who wait to pounce, with
sanctimonious pseudo-outrage, on those actually wrestling in the arena of
ideas. Cheap thrills, it seems to me. A wonderful opportunity for self-
righteous posturing. The joke is that these pouncings are just as odious as
the lower levels of the wars themselves. 

Get thee to a nunnery.
