LD
WE MANAGE 2 RIDES EVERY YEAR. OUR LD RIDERS ARE GIVEN THE SAME
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AS THE 50 OR 100 MILERS. WE GIVE PLACEMENTS {FIRST PLACE
AND BC} THEY GET THE SAME QUALITY OF AWARDS AS THE OTHERS. TO SAY THEY
ARE NOT ENDURANCE RIDERS IS ABSURD.THEY CONDITION THEIR HORSES JUST LIKE
ALL THE SO CALLED ENDURANCE RIDERS. I HAVE SEEN MORE HORSES IN TROUBLE
ON 50 MILES THAN 25. TRUE YOU DO HAVE SOME COWBOYS THAT DONT DO THEIR
HOMEWORK WITH THEIR HORSES BUT YOU WILL ALSO FIND IN 50 MILE RIDES.
THESE LD PEOPLE PAY THEIR ENTRY FEE AND NOW MUST JOIN AERC OR PAY AN
EXTRA $10. WE HAVE A SEPERATE RIDERS MEETING WITH THE LD RIDERS AND TELL
THEM IF THEY ARE IN THE VIEW OF THE VET OR RIDING THEIR HORSES TO FAST
THEY WILL BE PULLED. MY HUSBAND WILL NEVER DO A 50 MILE AS HE LOVES THE
LD SO WHY SHOULD HE NOT BE CALLED AN ENDURANCE RIDER JUST BECAUSE HE
DOES NOT WANT TO DO 50 MILES? HE DOES RIDE FAST BUT HE HAS ALSO DONE HIS
THROUGH CONDITIONING AT HOME AND WOULD NOT EVEN THINK OF DOING A RIDE IF
HE HAD ANY DOUBTS ABOUT THE CONDITION OF HIS
HORSE.
