Because other horses may not be as comfortable with your dog as yours is,
and I assume your dog isn't going to wait for you outside a vet check.  I
would hope that avoiding disruption of other horses is a higher priority
than is your pleasure at having your dog with you.  I am not planning on any
LDs this year, but I hope if you do happen to have your dog on the endurance
ride with you, I don't happen to be one of the 50-milers sharing the same
trail, as one of Cato's favorite sports is coyote-stomping.  And he too, is
very fit.
As far as your wish to go as fast as possible for 25 miles...well, I regret
that I cannot appropriately respond, as your definition of endurance and
mine probably differ far too much.
