I don't believe you can say there is any set formula for when a horse
should or shouldn't move up to a 50. There are too many other factors
involved.... Every horse AND rider (it is a team effort!) is different
and every situation is different! I tried a 50 after doing a 25 LD and
simply discovered that we weren't ready. I personally was not ready and
my horse really needed to do more 25 LD (in my opinion and my judgement
as to what was best for our team). This year we will start out with a
50. I know HE is ready for it but again I am not sure about myself so
if I need to back down to a 25 or 2 before we go back to a 50, then that
is what we will do. That is what I think is so cool about this sport...
the TEAM concept...it's not just me and it's not just the horse. It's
US! Rachel needs to do what she feels is right for BOTH of them.
