Let's compare apples to apples. The AERC does not put on one single
ride. Ride managers do that, and typically charge the same fee to
everyone riding a given distance. So no one is talking about letting
non-members particpate for free. The non-member fee is an *extra*
charge by an organization that is giving nothing in return to those
non-members who are made to pay it. It is a fee to "make somebody
else pay" for member services.
