Letters of support needed.
Apologies for topic variation but when such
things change, we all are impacted.
The (Florida) The Sunshine State Horse Council
has been advised that the "no hunting status" of the Kissimmee
Prairie State Preserve might be threatened. A letter campaign from Florida
hunters to
Governor Lawton Chiles is said to be underway with a public
hearing slated for October 1, 1998, 9.a.m., in the Douglas Bldg. From my
understanding the Preserve was purchased from owners who had not allowed
hunting. The lands were purchased with CARL Funds. Very few lands
are none hunting in the state. There is a large consensus by trail riders
and some DEP folks that hunting should be banned on this preserve for many
reasons. SSHC is
seeking help with letter writing to The Honorable Lawton
Chiles
The Capitol
Tallahassee, Fl. 32399
Please, just a few simple lines of support to keep the
Preserve open year round to riders, bikers, hikers, etc.
Florida people, please join in...it didn't use to matter...now
it does.
