This advice isn't going to do you any good right now (since it is too
late), but it can help for future bruising incidents.

Ice immediately.

You have to do it before the bruise develops...and it never will.

The concept is, you bruise because you have broken blood vessels in the
tissue dumping blood into the surrounding tissue.  If you ice it
immediately, the blood vessels will constrict...dumping less blood.

If you do it soon enough and for long enough, you can minimize the
bruising to the point that it is invisible.
