I second all of this 100%.  Any light source visible from the side or
rear is distracting to other riders and horses.  At the "Midsummer's
Moonless" ride several riders had glowsticks on their legs, and when
we passed them (or they passed us) Nykoss was clearly unhappy.

And if you have a flashlight or helmet light on and a rider comes up
from behind, PLEASE, PLEASE do not turn around and shine that light in
their eyes!!!!!!!!!

Oh, one more thing:  car headlights are the absolute worst of all.  It
is literally painful to be riding down a road and have someone in a
waiting vehicle turn on their headlights to "see who's coming."
