I'm a big fan of the Slypner shoe...and never experienced any problems
in the areas you addressed....the horses I've used them on LOVE them
and go extremely well in them.

As far as weight goes, if I remember correctly, there was minimal to
no difference between the Slypner system and the  steel shoe I
was using.
