Recently someone posted a question about feeding bananas. Bananas
are a good source of potassium, but a far better choice would be
baked potatoes, with skin. 1 medium potato supplies about 800-900 mg
of potassium as compared to the 400 mgs in 1 banana. Travel better,
too! The most popular trail food for the ultramarathoners at the
Vermont 100 is cooked potatoes, which are then dipped in salt. The
runners can eat these easily while moving, and they provide: good
water content, carbs, and electrolytes. Perhaps horses would also go
for this?
