WEC closing ceremonies extravaganza

Check out this press release for the closing ceremonies! With 30,000
people, orchestra, fireworks, etc., we'll find out which horses are
really tired or not! Part of the BC judging should be for the horse
that bolts the highest/farthest.

GRAND FINALE FOR FEI EVENT

   The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, organizers for the 1998 FEI
   World Endurance Championship, have planned the most spectacular
   closing ceremony for the event.

   The closing ceremony will be staged at the Zayed Sports Arena, Abu
   Dhabi from 7:00PM onwards. Organizers are expecting 30,000 people
   to attend. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. People
   should arrive by 6:00PM. 

   The closing ceremony has been dubbed "The Knights of Arabia",
   deemed as a gift to the leader and father of the Nation, President
   Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

   The unique ceremony has been directed by Jassim Al Harban from
   Bahrain, who has been working for Conception Productions Majaeun
   (CPM), a French Company under the Chairmanship of Mr. Alain
   Bilourous. 

   Harban and CPM have been working the past few months to produce
   an enthralling event. More than 3,000 children between 5-7 years will
   perform a series of dances that will reflect the nationality of each
   participating country. "The children have been training for the past
   two weeks and I am delighted with the progress," said Harban.

   Two different techniques with lasers are being used – a 3D Space
   Laser that projects objects in space, and a writing laser that can
   portray pictures onto a solid background, such as a galloping horse.

   Anwar Abdullah, Arif Al Zayani and Khalid Nassir composed the music
   for the ceremony. Arif Al Khaja composed lyrics for a specially
   commissioned song. Five famous Arabic singers from Saudi Arabia, the
   U.A.E., Syria and Kuwait will perform. They are Mohammed Abdou,
   Asala, Mohammed Al Beloushi, Mayhad Hamad and Ahlam. The
   soundtrack has been recorded with full orchestral backing.

   Also taking part is the Paratroopers Team and the Abu Dhabi Mounted
   Police. The finale will be a display of fireworks. The event is
bound to
   be a true spectacle of light and sound that will portray the spirit
of the
   Endurance Championship and the participating countries.
