Men are supposed to be the more rational of the sexes so I would ask him how
many more miles he does in conditioning than in competition thruout the year.
What are the statistical chances of him being hurt on a simple training ride
vs. a race?  I know, I know they are also the more stubborn of the sexes, too!
My husband was in an accident as a passenger in his own vehicle and became
quadriplegic because he wasn't wearing his seat belt for the first time ever.
Accidents happen in your own back yard when you least expect them so it only
makes sense to ALWAYS play the odds.  Good luck in your attempts to get him to
"use his head"!
