Shipping to Barcelona in 1992 had a few moments as well. Making it to JFK Airport after battling the Cross Bronx Expressway traffic at morning rush hour left me feeling pretty shellshocked. Deb's horse Stoney took it in stride, though. He and his two buddies found it only mildly interesting as they were raised up 25 feet in an open pallet by a scissors jack with other planes taking off nearby. In they go and here comes more pallets of shrink-wrapped goods pushed in right behind them. Now, if he were to see that same shrink-wrap out on the trail... But when they got to Barcelona, they were kept on the pallet on the hot tarmac until it was their turn to clear customs. Seems that a bunch of crates of tropical fish arrived just ahead of them. No amount of arguing would convince those Spanish officials to let the horses cut in front of the fish. Come to think of it though, that was nothing compared to getting them home, eh? But that's another story. Hope the East Coast horses had a safe flight. Best of luck to all the team! Pete (and Deb) LaBerge
