Re: Lump on chest

Hi, Lynette,

I had a gelding who got a lump on his chest, the size of
a golf ball, and grew to the size of a tennis ball. Sounds like
this is similar to what your horse has. His was
diagnosed as a seroma, and the vet told me to put a large
needle in it to see what kind of stuff drained out.

I did, and it drained a pale yellow/reddish liquid. The
more it drained, the more the lump reduced in size.

I would tie him to my hitching post, and put the needle
the lump and let it drain for 30-40 minutes, while he
contentedly ate from his haybag.

The lump eventually disappeared after about 3 months.

The vet thought that it was due to being either bitten or
kicked by one of my other critters, most likely my mini-donkey.
He was none the worse for wear. Hope this helps.

Sue
