Tevis ride on PBS
In July I posted a note stating that a PBS documentary had been filmed
at the Tevis ride featuring Bob Marx and Monty from Danville, CA during
their 6th Tevis ride (and 5th completion). This will be broadcast as
about a 15 minute segment of a 1 hour PBS program called California
Heartland featuring California horsepersons and activities. The
broadcast schedule for the San Francisco bay area is KQED channel 9
(PBS) on Saturday Nov. 14 at 3:00 PM local time. It should be fun.
During filming, the director seemed to be very interested in the
partnership aspect of the sport with interview questions about how
rider and horse are doing, anxieties and worries, meeting cutoff times,
finishing, etc.
On another subject.......
My wife, Judy and I had the pleasure of serving as ride volunteers for
the first time at the Diablo Vista Ride last week end. Boy, did we
learn a lot doing P & R and vet secretary work all day! What a great
way to learn. The vets, especially Mike, Cory and Jamie were very
helpful in pointing out and discussing all kinds of stuff to us. Cory
spent 5-10 minutes with a rider and horse (names forgotten) and several
of us observing and discussing early stages of thumps. I highly
recommend this to everyone.
