I usually keep a 4lb trace mineral block and a 4lb white salt block in my
geldings stall.  They both were down to nubs, but when I went to get more
from the feed store, they was out of the trace mineral block and only had
white salt and sulfur/salt.  I've never used the sulfur/salt block before,
but I bought one of each and put them in the holders.  My guy almost
devoured the yellow sulfur/salt block!  I stood there and watched him lick
it for 30 minutes straight before I got worried about his tongue and the
advisability of even using the sulfur/salt block and removed it.  What could
really be missing from his diet that would cause such behavior?  Judging
from the level in the water barrel, he drank about 3 times more water than
he usually does  after that little episode.
