Wow? giving bicarb to an endurnace horse is normally considered to be a
major cause of real problems..
the horse is already alcodisic   rats sp-- in an alkiline balance..
using bicarb is used for acid ph condition  like a race horse after a
run when full of lactic acid.. from anerobic running

BUT our horses don run that way, they get a alkine ph balance.
Back in the old days some vets gave Ringers lactate with bi-carb to a
few trashed endurnace horses and they died...

Now the iv fluids are netural water balanced ph--with electolytes.

I am very carefull never to feed anything with bi-carb in it.
