I'll stick by my logic. The insurance companies have informed the ride
managers in question that they would be considered grossly negligent to allow
a known problem horse to compete, and hence would not be covered. Now THAT is
terrifying. I cannot blame people for not wishing to risk everything they own
just to put on an endurance ride. In some cases, they deal with private
landowners who have withdrawn permission to use their land based on the
Board's decision. Eight of our Board members looked at these ramifications
and voted against the appeal. Facts are facts, and whether or not they make a
person popular is hardly the issue. I merely urge riders to contact their
elected representatives and express their views if they feel that they have
not been well represented in this issue. That is how an organization like
ours functions.
