OK.
Prompting is taking some action to push the speed of a horse/rider
team faster than it would have otherwise been. Such as riding along
with a fresh horse, or a crew person running behind the horse with a
whip, or pushing the horse with a pickup truck.
Giving a rider *information* is not prompting.
There are gray areas, of course, but if you object to radios do you
also object to crews meeting their riders periodically and telling
them how far ahead/behind other riders are? And giving them some
encouragement?
If you feel radios should be banned would you also ban all other
communication between riders and crews outside of vet checks?
At any rate, there is no AERC rule against radio communication between
rider and crew, and in my opinion none is necessary or desirable. If
you're the better rider with the better horse you're going to beat
them whether or not they have a radio.
