The weather was sunny and warm but not unbearable. There was plenty of
water at various spots on the trail and we had some great views. The
terrain was mostly up and down but with no real killer hills. (Or maybe
my perception of hills is altered since Castle Rock!)
I think David Jenkins won the 50 and I know Godfrey Sullivan got BC.
The 100 was won by Shellie Hatfield (on Major Attraction?) by a whisker
over Shirley Delsart on KJ Destination. Marcia Smith was third by a few
minutes. (This was announced by Cory Soltau during the awards banquet
at about 7:00 pm!).
Pam Loftus finished the 50 riding an Arab instead of her usual mount
Mustang Hawk.
I finished at 5:05 pm on Warpaint, who jigged all the way back to the
trailer.
Carolyn Schultz completed the 50 at a nice conservative pace. This was
her horse Elly's first 50 and she came through it well.
Sally Pringle and her reformed show horse JR rode the 25 with Jean
Schreiber and Orion. This was Sally's first 25 and Jean and Orion's
first ride after several years away from endurance riding. Orion won
the "oldest horse" award for the 25. The award was graciously sponsored
by Sally Billingsley in honor of her horse Stormy.
Judy Long and Nachi Sunshine (Warpaint)
Happy to have a completion!
