Grade 1 - An occassional misstep at the trot on a circle.
Grade 2 - Lame at the trot on a circle
Grade 3 - Lame at the trot on the straight
Grade 4 - Lame at the walk on a straight
Grade 5 - "dead" lame
I *believe* that finishing criteria says that a horse cannot be
grade 3 lame to finish. Grade 2 is at the vet's discretion.
But Grade 1 is not considered lame.
