As a newcomer who has yet to even ride an endurance ride, I have been
asking questions to everyone who will talk to me for the past year. Most
of the people are very nice and glad to share their stories and
information with you. The very few who were not nice were 1) probably
not nice people, 2) not a good time to talk. I've learned the best times
to ask questions, and it's usually not in the middle of a race!
I have volunteered at rides and have found management and riders
extremely grateful for the help. I have also learned that everyone has
their own opinion and way of doing things, and it may be right for them
but not right for others. I take all the advice and put it in a blender,
add my own observations and knowlede and pour myself a nice thick shake
just the way I like, but sometimes with a surprise on the bottom. I keep
a very open mind.
Now that I have my new horse and starting to train, I know I will run
into even more questions. I appreciate this list very much and know to
turn to you guys when I need answers.
