>I'm interested to know - how did most of you get your start in this sport?
In 1976 I was a member of the Huntsville Amatuer Radio Club. We were
asked to provide communications for the Alabama 50 in Bankhead Forest.
A horse/rider got in trouble on the trail, and I borrowed a horse and
rode out with a radio to report back what kind of help was needed. I
was hooked. It took me a couple of years to find and condition
Kahlil, though, so I didn't get to compete until 1978. I worked some
rides in the meantime, generally as a drag rider carrying a radio.
