I would suggest you have another Vet look at this horse or at least consult
with you over the phone. Some of my clients have told me there was a recall
of Adequan late last summer or early fall.
I am concerned that the problem took so long to reveal itself and that there
was bleeding after the shot. Potentially something got nicked, a nerve or
blood vessel.
If you called me to come out and Rolf this horse I would want you to consult
as I suggest above.
The DMSO is good for reducing inflammation as is the bute. You may want to
try a Comfrey poltice.
Also give the Adequan manufacturer a call, ask about the contra-indications
of adequan given directly into a blood vessel or nerve.
