Hi Karen,
My mistake. I stand corrected. I don't know where the impression came
from that BC was not used for LD. I guess it was because we didn't give
time placings. We did not chose to factor in time so we could not call it
BC.
I don't know that creative approaches are the answer, though. It seems
that the LD riders would like more consistancy between ride management. I
know if I were starting out again, it would be confusing if things were
done differently by each manager.

I have to disagree. At the PNER convention last week, 3 AERC directors
told me there were no AERC rules or even guidleines on Best Condition
Awards for limited distance rides. I would like to encourage ride managers
to use some of the more creative approaches that have been tried elsewhere.
