You hit the nail on the head....it has always been my contention here in the
east that LD is used as a substitute for CTR's where riders are also judged
on horsemanship and the criteria is actually SCORED...i.e. LD riders are
those who don't feel they want to or can measure up the the actually tougher
criteria of CTRs.

I guess I had better say SOME riders and not ALL and make sure I say IMO so I
don't get dumped on again.

I have 6000 miles in competition..almost HALF of it in CTR's..mostly in my
early days and I WON A LOT!!! Also learned what it took and that's why I am
where I am today..a better rider and horseman BECAUSE of the CTRs..actually I
had no choice..that's just about all we had 20-25 years ago.
