As the spouse of the coach who has more players in major league baseball than
any other coach in the nation (and for those of us who are SURE where the
emphasis on student-athlete is, he also has the highest grad rate among Div I
schools) , I see a direct corollary here, in that the major leagues feed off
of the minor leagues, of which there are several levels. It is all one
successful system, and i think itis something of a picture of what LD can be
and in most cases is to the longer rides. This is prep or wind-odnw from a
career or a place in the sun for those of us who DO have other and important
calllings in life. This integrated system works well. In addition, by the end
of the school year when I am pretty well wiped out, it is a pleasure
soemtimes to ride 25-30 miles, shower, then watch with pleasure as the top
ten in the 50 starts to roll in.
