Norfields has done some research on magnetics and their use with equines.
There is extensive research on their use with humans, especially in Japan. An
excellent book is " The Body Electric" by R.O. Beckman MD. Also Jim Oschman
at Wood Hole has done alot of research on magnetics and the implication in
physiological communication.
I think that the use of equine Chiropractors is as useful as it is with
people. I think it is imperative that they are certified as euinq
practioners, not as important that they are DVMs. My prejudice is that
manipulators of all kinds Chiros, massage, Rolfers have a human practice to
get feedback on their touch and technique.
I have steered away from the ones who use mallets and sticks, the soft tissue
positions the bones, my feeling is that use of too balistic an adjustment can
cause soft tissue injury. I also know from my Rolfing practice that there are
two ways to move bones, gentle and hard.
As in every case with alternative threapies your primary care provider should
be informed and the alternative therapist should be willing to communicate
their findings to them and work as part of the team.
