Hybrid Vigor,a Moyle/Arab cross, was first to finish and won the Old Dominion BC
trophy and cavalry award on last year's Old Dominion 100, ridden by John
Crandell III. He also completed the Tevis Cup (Vigor is sired by the Moyle
stallion "Cider" out of Rushcreek Polly. Wonderfully made horse with lots of
substance and a great personality. This is a nifty cross for those seeking Arab
endurance with an added touch of stoutness. Interesting color, too -- a tawny
shade of buckskin. BTW, John and Vigor just nosed out John's mom, Linda, who was
riding another Crandell homebred -- LR Forgeym, a son of Bold Soldier.

<<<Matthew and Winkie Mackay-Smith rode Moyle horses in the 1964 Tevis Cup
Ride and I think on a couple of occasions after that. I think they may have
taken a couple of them home with them to Virginia at one time.
Some of these horses had a unigue feature...horns. I have actually felt
them or I wouldn't have believed it, but they protruded about 1/2 inch in
the forehead region, covered by hair. This made them items of curiosity at
rides and a lot of Moyle horses had their foreheads scratched as people tried
to feel the horns.
