Speaking of "Smorgasboard"

We have a great team - members who aren't riding for whatever reason, along
with other volunteer's help at the vet checks. The horses have a smorgasboard
of treats to choose from - wet hay, wet alfalfa, "chop", chopped carrots,
barley w/ apples, etc. All in tubs. They can pick & choose their way along
the row. (Or their riders choose for them). (Some of us still set up our own
areas.)
This certainly isn't the way they eat daily.

As far as I know, none of the horses has ever had a problem, either during the
rest of the ride, or after. Our gelding goes for the carrots, & would finish
them off if we'd let him! He also loves the alfalfa, since they don't get it
at home. Of course we don't let them just "pig out", but they sure seem to
enjoy having all the choices.

Does anyone see any potential problems with this?
