molasses in feed

Sandy asked why not feed molasses? I guess I really have to say that my
question is why feed it? I do my best to avoid eating sugar or feeding
it to my kids because it is basically empty calories and bad for our
teeth. The only reason that I can see for adding it to our horses feed
would be to tempt a finicky eater somewhat like frosted cornflakes. I
do feed Equine Sr. but not to my ENDURANCE horses. I do not know why my
horses had problems with sweet feed, only that the problem went away
when the sweet feed went away. This is by no means scientific! I had
two different horses that had the problem. Whenever I have a choice, I
try to feed my horses as naturally as possible. I feel that we removed
our horses from nature and assummed the responsibility to care for
them. So, whenever I make feeding decisions I try to duplicate mother
nature as closely as possible!
