I have just finished browsing through my first batch of ridecamp mail and I
am really impressed! My name is Diane Tatum and currently we live in Macon,
GA. (My husband is in the Navy.) During the early 1980's I rode in a couple
of endurance rides in Oregon and really loved it, but finances forced me to
sell my horse and move on. I've not been in a situation to do much riding
since then, except for a year in California. We are going to be moving in a
year or so and hope to get back into horses, and for me that includes
endurance riding. I've helped on a few rides since my initial experience,
but not enough to stay current. I am hoping to learn from this loop and to
be able to make educated decisions when the time is right!

I did notice the discussion about electrolytes...Pedialyte was mentioned. I
sold Shaklee for a time and they have a product called "Performance". It is
designed like Gatorade in a sense, but is used by marathoners for rehydration
because it doesn't have to be digested like Gatorade...It goes straight into
the system. I heard a lady in California talk about using Performance and
some of the food supplements for her trotters. She said that the horses
loved the taste and actually preferred it over other supplements. It might
be worth checking into. If you want more info, contact me and I can get you
an address. (I don't sell Shaklee anymore, but the products are great and I'd
recommend the sports supplements to all riders for themselves!)

By the way, if any of you are out in Oregon...I'd love to locate my horse (I
raised and trained him.), the one I had to sell so many years ago. His
registered name was "Bay Silhouette" (call name "Eagle"), registration #1A
185550 with the Half-Arabian registry, foaled 6/12/78. He was freeze branded
on the right side of the neck. The last time I checked with the registry, he
was still registered to me, so no luck there. It's a long story, but I would
really like to know if he's still around. He was last seen near Madras,
Oregon.

Thanks!
