What has worked the best for me is more riding and running (me running on
foot!) I also weight train some and do yoga to help lengthen the muscle.
What you want to be good at is what you do more of. The more I ride, the
better my 'ride muscles' become. The more I run, the stronger my legs get.
Weight training offers good bone density for resisting bone injuries and
debilitating bone and joint disease and yoga stretching counteracts the
shortening of the muscle caused by weight training. Always look at the
'whole' approach. The aerobic effect of running is important too. I guess
that about sums up my routine. My boyfriend wants to add nutrition as an
important factor too. He's pretty smart.
